![]() Our students and teachers are always up to great things on our campus. With so many activities happening here at school, it can be tough to keep track of them all. We’ll keep you informed about what’s happening on campus as well as upcoming events or information you may need to know right here on our news page. Elementary Summer School Looking for extra enrichment opportunities or just some extra educational support over the summer months for your son or daughter? We encourage parents to learn more about our elementary summer school program, which provides students with a diversified summer school selection. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program We are proud to announce that our district is now on the Department of Defense Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. We expect our first delivery on April 26, 2013. Our students will experience a greater variety of fresh fruits and vegetables by participating in this program. We encourage parents and students to engage in conversation about the changes happening in our school lunch programs. Kudos to Chef Jasun Zakro, our new food service supervisor! Summer Food Service Program The J.O. Combs district will once again participate in the USDA Summer Food Service Feeding Program. This program is 100% funded by the USDA. Site: Harmon Elementary School During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch through the school breakfast and National School Lunch Program. What happens when school lets out? Hunger is one of the most severe roadblocks to the learning process. Lack of nutrition during the summer months may set up a cycle for poor performance once school begins again. Hunger also may make children more prone to illness and other health issues. The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill that nutrition gap and make sure children can get the nutritious meals they need. Summer Camp The Combs District has an exciting summer camp planned for your children ages 5-12 years. Students will stay active and engaged in arts and crafts, games, field trips, water days, and more! The summer camp will be Monday through Friday from May 28 - August 2 at Harmon Elementary School. Hours will be from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Camp will be closed on July 4-5. Campers will enjoy:
